- He was raised in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico where his father ran an air-conditioner business.
- Growing up in Mexico, he and his brothers spent a lot of their time playing baseball as their father was a member of his country’s national baseball team.
- Upon returning to the United States in 1990, his family settled in Bonita, California.
- He was the first overall pick in the 2000 MLB draft by the Florida Marlins straight out of high school with whom he played until 2003.
- Adrián represented Mexico in the 2006, 2009, 2013, and 2017 editions of the World Baseball Classic as well as at the 2026 Olympic Games.
- On his game bat was engraved “PS 27:1” for verse 1 from Psalm 27.
- The last team that he signed to was a one-year contract with the New York Mets on June 10, 2018. However, on June 10, 2018, he was released from the team after he had asked for an unconditional release.
