    Chase Utley is an American former professional baseball second baseman who played college baseball at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2000 Major League Baseball draft and played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 16 seasons.

    1. In the 1997 Major League Baseball draft, he was by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second round with the 76th pick. However, Chase Utley declined a $850,000 offer by the team in order to attend UCLA.
    2. As a junior at UCLA, he hit .382 with 22 home runs in 2000 and led the UCLA Bruins to the NCAA Super Regionals. He also made it to the All-Pac-10 team and the Sporting News and National Collegiate Baseball Writers first-team All-American teams.
    3. In the 2000 Major League Baseball draft, Chase Utley was picked by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round (15th pick). He signed with the team on July 29, 2000, and received a $1,780,000 signing bonus.
    4. On April 4, 2003, he made his major league debut as a pinch hitter with the Philadelphia Phillies in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
