    Jodhi May is an English film, stage, and television actress. She first acted, as a 12-year-old, in the movie A World Apart (1988). That role kick-started her career, getting her early roles in notable films like The Last of the Mohicans (1992) as Alice Munro and Sister My Sister (1994) as Lea. Apart from a brief hiatus while studying at Wadham College, she has constantly appeared on film, television, and the stage. Her lead role in Sister My Sister was followed by her performance as Anna Snitkina in The Gambler (1997), for which she earned the Silver Dolphin Award for “Best Actress”. In 1999, she appeared in the made-for-television movies Warriors and The Turn of the Screw. The next year, she starred with in The House of Mirth. Two years later, in 2002, she featured in the television series Tipping the Velvet as Florence Banner. The same year, she wrote and directed a short film called Spyhole.

    Post a role in the 2003 TV film The Other Boleyn Girl, she appeared, alongside and , in a production of The Seagull at the Edinburgh Festival (August 2003). In August 2005, she appeared in Blackbird, a production by German director Peter Stein, alongside Roger Allam at the Edinburgh Festival. She played Angela in the drama film, On a Clear Day and Tania in The Best Man, both in 2005. She has also appeared in various other TV shows and films such as The Amazing Mrs Pritchard (2006), I, Anna (2011), Strike Back (2010), The Jury II (2011), Game of Thrones (2015), and A.D. The Bible Continues (2015). In 2019, she began starring in the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher as Queen Calanthe.

    1. Jodhi is one of the youngest recipients of the ‘Best Actress’ award at the Cannes Film Festival. She was awarded for her performance as Molly Roth in A World Apart (1988). It was her debut film. She also won an Evening Standard British Film Award for ‘Best Newcomer’, which she shared with .
    2. Casting agent Susie Figgis was looking for an untried youngster for A World Apart, and she accidentally stumbled upon Jodhi May.
    3. Jodhi is very reticent, restrained, and shy and finds it very odd to divulge any personal details.
    4. She is philosophical and introspective. She’s more interested in the process of acting itself rather than the end product. She often doesn’t watch her own Film or TV performances.
