    Katharine Isabelle Facts

    1. From 1989 to 1996, the initial years of her acting career, she had been credited as either Katie Murray or Katharine Isobel in the films or TV series that she had worked in. Thereafter, she began using Katharine Isabelle as her screen name.
    2. Although she has been dubbed a ‘scream queen’ due to having been featured in numerous horror films, she has revealed that the sight of real blood makes her extremely uncomfortable. She has also mentioned that she hates watching her own movies and TV shows.
    3. With her half-brother, former actor Joshua Murray, she had worked in 3 movies – Cold Front (1989), The Last Winter (1989), and Knight Moves (1992). In 1988, she had worked with her father Graeme Murray in an episode titled Schizogeny in the sci-fi drama TV series The X-Files, a show for which Graeme won both his Emmy Awards.
    4. Emily Perkins, her co-star in her breakthrough film Ginger Snaps (2000), had auditioned for her sister’s role in the film on the same day that Katharine had auditioned for the titular role of Ginger Fitzgerald. In a weird twist of fate, the co-incidence does not stop there. Both actresses were born in the same hospital, had attended the same pre-school, the same elementary school, and had been represented by the same talent agency at that time.
    5. For portraying the character of Mary Mason in the 2012 body horror film American Mary, she had won the ‘Best Actress’ award at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival, the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, the Fright Meter Awards, and the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.
    6. In a 2026 Instagram post, she had revealed that she had almost died due to a viral infection in 2003. The virus had caused her lungs to collapse and her kidneys had stopped performing. She had fallen into a coma and had to be put on a ventilator.
    7. She has an irrational fear of spiders (arachnophobia) and an irrational fear of the ocean (thalassophobia).
