    1. In 2004, Premiere Magazine ranked his performance as Charles Foster Kane in Citizen Kane (1941) at #12 on its list of ‘The 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time’.
    2. The Star Wars director wanted Orson to voice the character of Darth Vader in the first film, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977). However, Welles turned down the offer as he considered his voice to be far too familiar.
    3. He died 2 hours after appearing on The Merv Griffin Show on October 10, 1985. He reportedly had a heart attack while working on his typewriter situated in his lap.
    4. He stayed lifelong friends with fellow director . Coincidentally, both of them made their directorial debut in 1941; Welles with Citizen Kane (1941) and Huston with The Maltese Falcon (1941). Moreover, the two men also had the opportunity to direct each other as Orson played a cameo in Huston’s Moby Dick (1956) and Huston played the lead role in Welles’ The Other Side of the Wind (2018), which remained unfinished during his lifetime.
    5. In addition to being passionate about movies, he was also a talented magician and painter.
    6. Welles had once cited  as being “maybe the greatest actor who ever appeared in front of a camera”.
