    Princess Yōko of Mikasa Facts

    1. From an early age, she started practicing the traditional Japanese martial art of kendo. In 2005, she was selected to participate in exhibition tournaments in France and Germany as well as in the Aichi World’s Fair.
    2. Princess Yōko attended the national convention Kendo Housewives in July 2006.
    3. She has worked with the Japanese Red Cross Society.
    4. In August 2013, Princess Yōko was inaugurated as the Patron of the International Association for Universal Design (IAUD). The position was previously held by her father.
    5. She was inaugurated as the President of the Social Welfare Organization Yuai Jyuji Kai in January 2014.
    6. She is styled as Her Imperial Highness Princess Yōko.
