    1. While composing O Majhi Re for the film Khushboo (1975), he added a distinct ‘phook’ sound to the song, which was created by filling soda bottles with different levels of water and blowing into them.
    2. Burman had once revealed that he could see tunes in his dreams while sleeping. He was encouraged by his father, in such instances, to immediately wake up and note down the tune. He came up with songs like Mera Naam Hai Shabnam and Kanchi Re Kanchi Re like this in his sleep.
    3. His closest friends in the industry were Dev Anand, , Gulzar, Rajesh Khanna, and Gulshan Bawra.
    4. The trio of composer R. D. Burman, singer Kishore Kumar, and actor Rajesh Khanna worked together with great success in 32 Hindi-language films.
    5. He acted in a handful of movies like Bhoot Bangla (1965), Pyar Ka Mausam (1969), and a Bengali film called Anyay Abichar (1985). Furthermore, he was initially offered the lead role of Bhola in the cult classic, Padosan (1968) before it went to Sunil Dutt.
