    1. He was raised in Bexley, Ohio in a Jewish family.
    2. Stine began writing when he was just 9 years old on a typewriter that had been laying in his home attic. Originally, he had started writing joke books.
    3. He credits Tales from the Crypt to be his inspiration as he enjoyed reading the comic books series at an early age.
    4. While attending Ohio State University, he contributed to the humor magazine The Sundial as their editor for 3 out of 4 years that he was there.
    5. Upon graduating from college, Stine moved to New York City to pursue his passion for writing. After moving there, he began writing the humor magazine Bananas for Scholastic Press. He had written a total of 72 issues between 1975 and 1984.
    6. He wrote his debut horror novel titled Blind Date in 1986, followed by several others including The Babysitter, Beach House, Hit and Run, and The Girlfriend.
    7. R. L. Stine wrote his first Fear Street book series in 1989. Later, in 1992, Stine started writing the Goosebumps series.
    8. He was placed at #36 on Forbes‘s list of “40 best-paid Entertainers of 1996–97” with an income of $41 million for the fiscal year.
    9. By the year 2008, R. L. Stine had sold more than 400 million copies of his books.
    10. During the ’90s, Stine was listed as America’s number one best-selling author 3-times by USA Today.
    11. He has a dog named Minnie.
