- Owing to his father’s work as a traveling salesman, the family relocated frequently and Richard also lived in Henry, Illinois for a short time.
- Richard Widmark made his theatrical film debut as Tommy Udo in the 1947 film noir Kiss of Death and this role won him the Golden Globes Award for “Most Promising Newcomer – Male” while he was also nominated for an Academy Award for “Best Supporting Actor”.
- Along with , he appeared on the first cover of the German teen magazine Bravo in 1956.
- On February 8, 1960, Richard Widmark was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6800 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
