A revolutionary icon, she was the 2nd woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court after Sandra Day O’Connor and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from Scribes—The American Society of Legal Writers in 2009 and the Berggruen Prize for Philosophy and Culture in 2019.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg studied at James Madison High School and then got enrolled at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi. On June 23, 1954, she graduated from university with a bachelor of arts degree in government while being the highest-ranking female student in her graduating class.
She then attended Harvard Law School before transferring to Columbia Law School and became the first woman to be on two major law reviews: the Harvard Law Review and Columbia Law Review.
