- His rivalry with the superstar during the 1970s was very well-known. Their rivalry allegedly reached its peak when they shared screen space in ’s Kaala Patthar (1979). The film features a memorable confrontation scene that is still remembered as one of the greatest confrontation scenes between two male contemporaries in a Hindi film.
- Sinha became the first Bollywood superstar to hold the post of Union Minister. His portfolios included the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (January 2003–May 2004) and the Department of Shipping (August 2004).
- He was one of the actors considered to star in ‘s blockbuster films, Ram Lakhan (1989) and Meri Jung (1985). More famously, he turned down career-defining roles in the cult classics Sholay (1975) and Deewaar (1975), both of which ended up with Amitabh Bachchan.
- Sinha was honored with a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.
- He started his political career with Bharatiya Janata Party. However, he became a member of the Indian National Congress in 2019.
