    Sophia Flörsch is a German professional racing driver who, in 2026, became the first female driver to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship since its formation after the GP3 Series and European F3 categories were merged into one entity. Before this, she had competed in the Ginetta Junior Championship (2015), the ADAC Formula 4 Championship (2016-2017), the Italian F4 Championship (2017), the FIA Formula 3 European Championship (2018), and the Formula Regional European Championship (2019). In February 2026, she was honored with the ‘World Comeback of the Year’ award at the Laureus World Sports Awards for her courageous return to the sport by competing in the 2019 Macau Grand Prix after she had met with a horrific accident at the 2018 Macau Grand Prix. In that race, her car had left the tarmac at more than 170 mph and had crashed through the safety barrier. The accident had caused her a spinal injury that had required a 17-hour surgery and months of recovery.

    1. A child prodigy, Sophia had started participating in local karting competitions from the age of 5 itself.
    2. Between 2008 and 2014, she had participated in several karting competitions all across Europe and was the youngest-ever as well as the first female participant at the 2008 SAKC Championship, the 2009 ADAC German Championship, and the 2010 European Championship Easykart.
    3. During the 2015 Ginetta Junior Championship season, she had earned 2 wins and 2 podium finishes. Sophia was the youngest driver ever to win a race in the championship and the first rookie driver ever to win both races scheduled for a single weekend. She had to terminate her season prematurely, at 10 races, due to financial issues. She was placed at number 3 in the overall championship and was leading the rookie leaderboard at that time.
    4. Sophia is known to assign different names to her cars in different championships. For instance, she used to call her car Paul at the 2015 Ginetta Junior Championship and Hugo at the 2017 ADAC Formula 4 Championship.
    5. In 2017, she became the first female driver to score points in an ADAC Formula 4 race.
