- He grew up in poor circumstances as his parents were unable to earn enough and he often had to starve. He ended up being mocked at his school as his parents could not afford to buy new shoes for him when required.
- Norbert has recalled that during the summers, he and his friends would never miss playing football together even if they had missed out on food.
- He began to play football in the football club of Hajdúböszörmény and he was discovered at the age of 17 during an exhibition match by László Arany, who then offered him a chance to go to the Academy of Debreceni VSC.
- After getting a contract from Debrecen, he joined the academy in 2006 and rented a flat there. He started sending some of his earnings to his parents who had got divorced. He spent 8 years at the institution before turning professional in 2014.
- Norbert has never forgotten where he hailed from and he has ensured that he stays in touch with his old friends from his birthplace.
